After many hard years of labor, the former Soundkeeper pumpout boats are finally getting some needed R&R, repairs and refurbishment. Work on the boats during the off-season at Norwalk Cove Marina includes fiberglass gel coat repairs, another repower (bringing to 3 repowers we’ve done in the last 2 years), and new ENB decals on the hulls. In addition, each boat had interior waste tank repairs completed during 2016 from the original manufacturer at Marine Boatbuilders in Warwick, RI. Improving our fleet of boats will ultimately improve our pumpout service, making sure that pumpout requests are completed in a timely manner. Please use pumpouts, something every boater can do to improve water quality in the Sound.
Soundkeeper’s Pumpout Program will become part East Norwalk Blue, Inc.
East Norwalk Blue, Inc. will take over the Soundkeeper Pumpout Program, covering no-discharge areas from Rowayton to Bridgeport, CT with our 3 pumpout boats.
Soundkeeper Ends Pumpout Program Completing Over 2,400 Pumpouts
Soundkeeper Pumpout Program completed over 2,400 pumpouts of marine waste tanks for the 2016 boating season, keeping nearly 40,000 gallons of effluent from entering the Sound. Thank you to all the boaters who used our system to keep the Sound clean of marine-based pollution sources. Over the near decade that Soundkeeper has been running the program, our pumpout boats have been out on the Sound providing mobile pumpout services to boaters for convenience to boaters and to protect the Sound. Our operators provide a free service with funding from the CT DEEP and their Clean Vessel Act program. We hope you have enjoyed the convenience of the program and all the efforts made to keep the Sound fishable and swimmable. Thank you for your support!
