FREE Pumpout Service

Click To Request

East Norwalk Blue operates a FREE, mobile, sewage pumpout program for recreational boaters on Long Island Sound. Just CLICK HERE for a request form.

We empty vessel sewage waste tanks for recreational boaters. Our free service operates May through October. East Norwalk Blue covers the North Shore of Western Long Island Sound, from Bridgeport to Bronx. All of Long Island Sound is classified as a No Discharge Area (NDA) by the EPA. Therefore, discharge of treated or untreated sewage from any vessel is prohibited. Our service is free to the boat owner. Our costs are partially supported by a federal grant. Read more below.

Entering a pumpout request is as easy as filling out a short request form. Boaters do not need to be present when the pumpout takes place. Our operator will leave a card on board with the date of service and number of gallons pumped. Also, you receive an email confirmation when completed. Boaters can also hail on VHF channel 77.

Clean Water Benefits Us All

A swimmable, fishable, enjoyable Long Island Sound depends upon us all to do the right thing. Not only is proper sewage disposal a law, it matters more than you may think. Unfortunately, many boaters underestimate the effect of illegal dumping.

“Scientists have shown there is more bacteria in the untreated waste discharged by one boat than in the treated wastewater discharged by a small city,” according to the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection. Diseases, bacteria, viruses, chemicals and nutrients contained in human waste threaten people, marine animals and plants in sound waters. You can make a difference!

In addition to our mobile service, there are free Marine Sewage Disposal Facilities (MSDF) located along the coast harbors and inlets that dot the Connecticut and New York Long Island Sound coastline. CLICK HERE for a map of Connecticut pumpout boats, facilities and dump stations. East Norwalk Blue offloads all waste pumped from recreational boat holding tanks to Marine Sewage Disposal Facilities (MSDF).
